What is grass jelly?
Grass jelly is made by boiling the aged and slightly oxidized stalks and leaves of Mesona chinensis (the genus Platostoma of the mint family), a calming and soothing herb. It is typically consumed in summer. This translucent black drink/jelly has a mild, slightly bitter taste so it often served with sugar syrup.
